Norfolk Tug Company is a first-tier service company that provides tugs & barges for time sensitive marine delivery of containers, fertilizer, chemicals, aggregates, municipal waste containers and dredge products.  The Company operates 16 environmentally sound tugs ranging in power from 1800 to 4200 horse-power and 21 barges.

 

Buchanan Marine LP manages tugs & barges for the marine delivery aggregates in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut.  The just in time delivery system is supported by over 22 fixed mooring facilities located in New York Harbor and Western Long Island Sound.  The partnership operates three environmentally friendly tugs with a fleet of 109 barges.

 

James River Barge Line, Ltd. operates the 64 Express, a container on barge line that operates in Virginia’s James River between the Richmond Deepwater Terminal and container terminals in Hampton Roads.  The short sea initiative, created in 2004, is the most successful short sea shipping operation in the United States.  The line operates with two customer-built container barges – each capable of carrying 150 FEU ISO boxes, with almost daily operations between Richmond and Eastern Virginia.  The tugs in the service are state of art with environmentally friendly EPA tier II or higher diesel power plants.  The line provides capacity for reefer containers as well.  The short sea initiative is managed in partnership with the Virginia Port Authority.
